?What is BCC & what is it good for

Ever wonder why you get all this spam and viruses? Maybe it’s because your friends never remember to use the BCC option when sending or forwarding collective or chain e-mails.
To specify the recipients, an e-mail message can contain addresses in any of the 3 following fields:
1. To: field recipients are the audience of the message.
2. CC: field recipients are others whom the author wishes to publicly inform of the message (CC stands for Carbon Copy or Courtesy Copy).
3. BCC: field recipients are those being discreetly or surreptitiously informed of the communication and cannot see any of the other addressees (BCC stands for Blind Carbon Copy or Blind Courtesy Copy).
When sending an e-mail to multiple recipients, you can hide their e-mail addresses from each other. This is a sensible anti-spam precaution because it avoids making a long list of e-mail addresses available to all the recipients (which is what happens if you put everyone’s address in the To: or CC: fields). For this reason, it often makes sense to use the BCC field for mailing lists.
Viruses and spam-bots are now designed to go through mail files and address books looking for potential addresses. Sending a single message individually addressed to a large list of people increases the chances that they all will be spammed or sent a virus should any one of them get infected.
And one last thing: please don't forget to delete all addresses from previous forwarded e-mails, which cut the chain of involuntary publicity for those who didn't ask for that publicity.

אותם ספאמרים נלוזים מנסחים הודעות נוגעות ללב שגורמות לכם לשלוח להם על מגש של כסף את כל כתובות האי-מייל שברשותכם (כולל את כתובת האי-מייל שלכם). בבקשה תפסיקו לשתף איתם פעולה!
